In early april 2025, I had the pleasure of spending several days in Bordeaux—one of the world’s most iconic wine regions—visiting some of its most renowned châteaux. From the Left Bank to the Right Bank, I toured historic estates, walked through vineyards heavy with the legacy of centuries, and, of course, tasted the much-anticipated Bordeaux 2024 vintage.
The focus of my trip was to explore the wines of the 2024 growing season, and to speak directly with the winemakers crafting them. What I found was a vintage shaped by challenges, resilience, and a remarkable ability to adapt.
Spring brought persistent rains, complicating early vineyard management and raising concerns about mildew. Then, after a promising summer, rain returned at the end of the season, once again testing growers' patience and skill. Yet despite the unpredictability, many estates have produced wines of great elegance and character.
What stood out to me most was the optimism and dedication of the winemakers. Across the board, I heard stories of careful vineyard work, timely harvest decisions, and a deep respect for nature’s rhythms. The 2024 wines I tasted were expressive and balanced—showing fresh fruit, fine structure, and a surprising amount of finesse.
Bordeaux continues to impress not only with its history, but with the passion of the people behind each bottle. I’m excited to follow the evolution of this vintage and to eventually share some of these wines with our customers here in Spain.
